When he is older he challenges Bambi to fight because he hates him and wants to steal his girl, Faline, though it's very clear she has no interest in him, and Bambi finally takes up the challenge when Ronno starts driving Faline away, using his antlers to force her to go where he wants her. He is very disrespectful to everyone, including his own mother, who he practically bullies as a fawn, and yet still goes running to at the slightest sign of danger. As a fawn he is a braggart, a bully, a liar, a coward, manipulative and generally has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, seeming to mainly be brought about by his pride at having his antlers starting to come in and his spots having gone. He is even disrespectful to his mother, who is never seen offscreen, but often goes crying to her whenever he is faced with danger.

She appears near the end of the film, and greets Bambi warmly. Bambi is excited to see her at first, as she was a friend of his mother's, but his feelings change when he learns her purpose.
Bambi leaves with her, somewhat reluctantly, and the two head to Mena's home. On the way, Mena witnesses Ronno provoking and then fighting Bambi. after Bambi wins, Mena expresses concern for Bambi. However, Ronno recovers and leaps up to ram Bambi in the side. This causes Mena to stumble into one of Man's snares. Hearing Man's pets approaching, Mena orders Bambi and Ronno to flee. Ronno flees quickly, but Bambi is petrified with fear. As Bambi begins to run, Mena inadvertently repeats the dying words of Bambi's mother. This incites Bambi to turn back, determined to prevent another tragedy. Bambi is able to distract and elude the dogs, as the Great Prince comes and frees Mena. Later she sees the Prince mourning his son's supposed death. To her and the Prince's relief, Bambi revives, and is lovingly embraced by his father. She and Friend Owl share a glance and she leaves, knowing Bambi and his father wll be fine, and that she isn't needed after all.
